| Duke came from a family that was trying to find him another home. When time ran out, I was contacted by a good friend that the owners could no longer keep him and would have to send him to the SPCA. So willingly I went and picked him up. I had full intentions of placing him before I really got to know him. To my suprise when I picked him up he was covered from head to toe in ticks. I drove him to my friends house where we bathed him on her front lawn and picked off each and every tick. There were hundreds. The boy let us clean him up, bathe him with Bath and Body Works( that was all she had LOL) and never once made a peep. Although he was scared to death, I took him home and introduced him to some of the other dogs. He was a love. The only time I could get near him where he wouldn't run to the corner was when I had another dog with him. Soon he started to become more comfortable and I realized he had a true love for the tug and tennis balls. You can only imagine what happened next. He was the fastest trained dog I ever had. He picked up the course instantly and has been a reliable dog for some time now. He also has suprised me in loving the water. So we now have introduced him to Dock Dogs.... Oh to the possibilities. |
